Community groups invited to apply for conservation award
The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust is calling on local groups to apply for the biannual Dorothy Morley Conservation Awards 2014.
Groups have the chance to win a £1,000 grant to go towards the winning project, and one runner- up group will receive a grant of £500.
The award scheme, which has been running since 2000, is a tribute to the memory of conservationist Dorothy Morley who died in 1995, but had lived in West Berkshire.
As the chairwoman of Newbury and Hungerford District branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England and a member of the West Berkshire Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust committee, she was a strong campaginer on rural issues.
The continuation of the award scheme has been made possible through the generosity of her family.
Berkshire Community Wildlife Officer, Daniel Akam, said: “There are dozens of local groups doing amazing work for wildlife and people across Berkshire.
"This award will go towards their future projects and enable more green spaces to be managed for nature.”
