Newbury College and University Centre come together for Ukraine crisis

Staff at Newbury College and University Centre Newbury have raised more than £500 as part of efforts to support people affected by the crisis in Ukraine.

College staff came together for a Ukrainian-themed bake sale and live mini-concert as part of their March Development Day, which included a one-off performance by the specially formed Newbury College Choir.

Registry manager, Jane West, who helped organise the event, said: “Many people in our college community have been affected by the terrible situation in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

“We wanted to do something to help, and it has been wonderful to see how people have come together to support this cause.”

The money will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee Humanitarian Appeal, a project that aims to provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection to the 18 million people projected to become affected by the conflict.
