Chapel Row Fayre to return after absence

Organisers vowing to make this year's event the best yet as it celebrates 20 years

ORGANISERS of the popular Chapel Row Charity Fayre are vowing to make its 20th anniversary its best yet.

The fayre had to be cancelled last year due to a lack of committee members, but a dedicated team has been working hard to ensure this year’s event goes ahead.

It will be held on the Green at Chapel Row on Saturday, August 27, from 1pm to 5pm and entry and parking is free.

This year, sheep racing returns, with 80s singer Tony Hadley sponsoring one of the races.

Other highlights this year include the dog show, ferret racing, children’s corner complete with Victorian fun fair, bouncy castles, farm animals, beer tent, many craft stalls and classic vintage cars.

The fayre was first set up 20 years ago and since then it has raised £160,000 for local charities.

The charities which will benefit this year are Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, MacMillan Cancer Support, West Berkshire Mencap and Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The committee is still looking for sponsorships and donations.
