Carlo Ancelotti is the latest star to check out Newbury
He is favourite to replace Jose Mourinho as the next Real Madrid manager, but the Italian was happy to swap Spain for the Kennet Centre as he tucked into his burger and chips.
Nando’s today confirmed that Ancelotti came into the restaurant at just after 2pm yesterday afternoon.
Lifelong Chelsea fan, 18-year-old Toby Kacary, who lives in Lambourn High Street, couldn’t quite believe his eyes when he saw his team’s former boss dining in Newbury.
He told Newburytoday: “At first I didn’t realise it was him but then he started speaking Italian and I approached him.
“I said excuse me, are you Carlo Ancelotti? He smiled and said yes and put out his hand for me to shake and posed for a photo. I couldn’t believe it.
“I told him I was a Chelsea fan and that he was doing a good job at Paris St-Germain and he thanked me. He was very nice and very friendly.
“I was so shocked to see him in Newbury. I have no idea what he was doing there. I think he was with his wife and children.”
Ancelotti, who is currently manager of French side Paris St-Germain, was appointed Chelsea manager in 2009 and won the FA Cup and Premier League double in his first season in charge.
Ancelotti also posed for a photo with Nando’s employee Alejandro Manzaneda.
