Camp Hopson reopens after £3m refurbishment

Iconic store has huge facelift

NEWBURY’S iconic Camp Hopson store has fully re-opened with 80 extra brands and a new restaurant following a major £3m refurbishment.

Inside the new-look store there is a beauty hall and beauty room complete with brow and nail bars.

And, following numerous customer requests, childrens-wear and toys have also made a long-awaited return.

There has been an increase of brands in womenswear including Hobbs, Masai, Calvin Klein, White Stuff, Benetton and Tommy Hilfiger, to complement the new lingerie department.

Camp Hopson says it also now features the largest number of menswear brands under one roof in town, including Polo, Ralph Lauren, Boss, Gant, Tommy Hilfiger, Thomas Pink and Moss Bros.

A new restaurant – Angelica’s Terrace Café – which offers a wide range of hot and cold foods, from breakfast to afternoon tea, has opened on the second floor.

To mark its reopening, the store launched a special event last Thursday, with local MP Richard Benyon cutting the ribbon.

This was followed by a series of exclusive offers, demonstrations and entertainment throughout the weekend. Senior store manager David Shotton said: “This major redevelopment will be a great boost for the town, not only in its creation of new jobs for the area, but also in providing Newbury with a more diverse shopping experience through choice.”

Camp Hopson was acquired by Morleys Stores Ltd in November 2014.

The eight-strong group com-prises branches in Wimbledon, Brixton, Islington, Enfield, Up-minster, Ilford and Tooting, as well as Newbury.

Morleys says the refurbishment shows its commitment to Newbury.
