See how our schools celebrated World Book Day 2025
Paddington was back in town as hundreds of primary school pupils donned their favourite fancy dress costumes to celebrate World Book Day.
He was joined by Snow White and her seven dwarfs, Cruella de Vil, Scooby-Doo and the gang, Mr Men and Little Miss and a whole host of Disney Princesses.
At one school Miss Trunchbull even locked Matilda in the chokey!
And it was all in celebration of reading.
World Book Day was started in 1995 and aims to promote reading for pleasure.
It is celebrated each year on the first Thursday in March and primary school children are given a voucher to get a free book they can take home and enjoy.
Our photographer, Phil Cannings, visited as many schools across the area as he could to capture this year’s event.
He went to the following schools and you can see how they all celebrated World Book Day 2025 in our picture special which is in tomorrow’s (Thursday) Newbury Weekly News.

And keep an eye on next week’s paper too as we had so many great photos we couldn’t fit them all in to this edition.
