Books of condolence open across West Berkshire and North Hampshire in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Books of condolence are open across West Berkshire and North Hampshire so that people can pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Newbury Town Hall has a book open for those who wish to express their thoughts, feelings and memories of the Queen whose death was announced yesterday, Thursday, September 8.
West Berkshire Council has announced that there will be additional books open in Shaw House, and in the council offices from 1.30pm
There will also be books in the Thatcham, Hungerford and Theale libraries, as well as in West Berkshire Council's mobile library.
The council has also said that residents who want to lay some flowers in memory of Her Majesty should do so outside Newbury Town Hall.
Cards can be left with the flowers but the council has ask people not to include wrapping with the flowers or to bring candles or other items.
St Nicolas Church, St John the Evangelist Church and The Church of St George the Martyr in Wash Common are also open today for those in Newbury who want to offer a prayer in her memory.
St Mary’s Church in Thatcham will be open into the early evening today for anyone who wishes to pray, light a candle, or write a message in its book of condolence.
Books are also open in St Mary's Church in Chieveley, St Mary’s Church in Hampstead Norreys, St Mary’s Church in Hamstead Marshall, St Denys Church in Stanford Dingley, Holy Trinity Church in Theale and in the Holy Trinity Church in Hermitage.
Burghfield’s St Mary’s Church will be open throughout the next ten days of mourning and also has a book of condolences for people to leave their messages.
St Peter’s Church in Brimpton will be open every day until the funeral on September 19, from 9am to 6pm, for people to sign the village's book of condolence.
St Lawrence’s Church in Hungerford will be open until 5pm.
In Hampshire, a book is open in the Church of the Ascension in Burghclere, St James Church in Bramley will be holding a service at 2pm, and St Martin’s Church in East Woodhay will open for an hour at midday.
St Mary’s, St Paul’s, and St Luke’s in Tadley are all open today and in St Mary’s there is a Tadley book of condolence.
