Bid to redevelop Thatcham pub into housing

The proposal by Capita Moore is to extend the empty pub in St John’s Road to accommodate two two-bedroom homes and one three-bedroom house.
A statement by the agent said: “The property is no longer viable as a public house due to the financial commitment required and local competition.
“It is unlikely that the current level of patronage will justify investment required to update and upgrade the existing facility.”
A decision is expected by West Berkshire Council by April 28.
