Berkshire Farm Girl, Eleanor Gilbert, wins the BBC Food and Farming Countryfile Young Countryside Champion award
Our very own Berkshire Farm Girl has won a prestigious BBC award.
Eleanor Gilbert from Rookery Farm, Newbury, received the BBC Food and Farming Countryfile Young Countryside Champion award on the TV programme this evening (Sunday).
During the programme, Eleanor told viewers how she uses social media to spread awareness about the benefits and techniques of farming to those who might not be aware of them.
After receiving the award, she said: “It’s amazing. It’s just a privilege to get to the top three, and to win is beyond belief.”
The finalists all attended a gala event at Cardiff's National Museum earlier this week where Eleanor received her award.
The awards were launched in 2000 to mark the 20th anniversary of BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme.
