BrewDog finale to Newbury band’s great year

The tour took in Reading, Bristol, Plymouth, Oxford and Newbury.

The shows were really well received with around 30 to 60 people each night.

“It was a nice way to test the waters,” said the boys.

“And we’re definitely going to branch out to some bigger Bristol shows next year.

“We’re aiming to sell this Reading show out, which will be 100 tickets, and things seem to be going well so far.”

The band are now working on some new music.

They’ve had some really good support from BBC introducing Oxfordshire/Berkshire, too, “which has been amazing”.

“We’re hoping to pack the place out,” said the boys “and show everyone what to expect for 2024!”

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind journey for the emerging local indie band who in just a short time have made remarkable progress, transforming from the duo of Harry Stradling on lead vocals and Lee Smith on percussion, to a dynamic four-piece band, with Luke Newman on bass and George Jackson on lead guitar.

WAATC’s sound is best described as melodic rock in nature, with strong indie influences and a bit of folk.

They draw their influences from bands like The Howl and The Hum, Mumford and Sons, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Bombay Bicycle Club, Twenty One Pilots and many more.

Situated on Castle Street, BrewDog Reading craft beer bar and restaurant features 29 taps of “awesome BrewDog and guest beer”.
