Heart Radio host Amanda Holden’s Big Ride to Work charity bike ride for Global’s Make Some Noise will stop off in Newbury at the end of day 3
Newbury will welcome radio host, Amanda Holden, to town as she completes the third leg of a charity 250-mile bike ride.
The Heart Breakfast show host began her challenge yesterday (Monday) in Bude, Cornwall and will be cycling through Somerset, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Surrey to make it to the Heart studios in London’s Leicester Square by Friday.
And now she’s asking everyone to turn out to welcome her into Newbury tomorrow (Wednesday).
She will be finishing the day at the Teashop by the Canal, in The Wharf at around 5pm – weather dependent!
The challenge is all to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
Back in 2019 Amanda’s Heart Breakfast co-host Jamie Theakston completed a similar bike challenge for the charity, stopping off in Hungerford on his way from Edinburgh to London.
‘Amanda Holden’s Big Ride To Work’ will be raising money for Heart’s charity, which is changing lives across the UK by funding vital projects delivered by small charities and tackling issues such as mental health, poverty and homelessness.
And the host is no stranger to tough challenges. She has already completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a 10,000 feet skydive and climbed to the top of Blackpool Tower.
She said “I can’t quite believe that I’m going to be cycling over 250 miles from my mum's house in Cornwall to London for Global's Make Some Noise - it’s a massive challenge!
“I’m told it’s not going to be particularly flat so I’m gonna have buns of steel by the end of this!
“Knowing that every mile I cover will help raise funds for those local projects providing a lifeline directly to those who need it most is what will keep me going.
“Plus, I’ll get the nicest Cornish sendoff from my mum with a big cuddle. I can’t wait to see how much we can raise for Global’s Make Some Noise, I know we’ll get incredible support from our amazing listeners.
“Their generosity truly means the world, and together we can help those projects that make such a difference in their communities.”
Jason King, who is standing in for Jamie Theakston and will be in the Heart studio all week cheering and checking in on Amanda, said: “Amanda is taking on a massive challenge this year, all to raise money for the fantastic projects supported by Global’s Make Some Noise.
“I’ll be right here in the studio, cheering her on every step of the way. I’ll also be talking to people who have benefitted from the generosity of our amazing Heart listeners, showing how your donations can really help change lives.”
Suzanne Ryder-Richardson, the director at Global Goodness, added: “We’re incredibly grateful to Amanda who once again is taking on a massive challenge to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise.
“Every single donation to Amanda’s challenge can help to provide a lifeline to those who need it most, in the heart of communities, perhaps even on your doorstep.
“Right now, millions of people across the UK are facing some of life’s toughest challenges including life-limiting diagnosis, grieving a loss, battling homelessness, or feeling isolated and alone. Donations have never been more crucial. Amanda we’re all cheering you on every pedal of the way.”
