Will Young bringing his album tour Light It Up to his hometown, Newbury

Did you catch Will Young on the One Show last night?

Then you’ll have heard him say he’s bringing his album tour to his hometown, Newbury.

Twenty two years after he won Pop Idol, he’s returned to ‘joyous pop’ and his new studio album Light It Up will be released on August 9.

The 10-track collection sees the acclaimed singer-songwriter reunite with Andy Cato of Groove Armada, his long-term writing partners Jim and Mima Elliot (who worked on Will’s defining album, Echoes) and new collaborators, pHD, the Scandinavian pop duo who has worked with Kylie, Little Mix and One Direction.

To celebrate its launch Will is embarking on his most intimate tour yet – an up-close and personal evening of acoustic performances, stories and conversation and he comes to the Corn Exchange on Saturday, November 9 (7pm) .

“I’m very excited about touring at the end of the year,” said Will, who grew up near Hungerford. “And I will be going to a lot of places I haven’t been as I wanted to go to smaller venues, so I could properly get around the country rather than just playing the big cities.'

Priority booking opened to Corn Exchange members yesterday. Tickets will go on general sale tomorrow (Friday, April 26), at 10am.

He also plays Reading Concert Hall on September 5.
