What's on in West Berkshire and North Hampshire this weekend: Fun run, art exhibition, jumble sales and bluebell walk
Looking for some family-friendly entertainment? Here's a round up of things to do this weekend.
Friday 6
To Sunday, Pangbourne Art Exhibition & Sale, Pangbourne Village Hall. Organised by the Rotary Club raising money for New Beginnings, working with the homeless and needy in Reading. Friday, preview 6pm-9pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 10am-4pm.
Saturday 7
Jane Cleary Memorial Match, Henwick Playing Fields, from 1.30pm. Organised by the U15 Thatcham Town Harriers Football teams. Tombola, barbecue and lots of football. Raising funds for Daisy’s Dream.
Church yard tidy up, Church of the Ascension, Burghclere, 9.30am-12noon. Please bring your own tools if you have them. Coffee and biscuits provided for the workers.
Jumble Sale , Padworth Village Hall, 2pm. In aid of village hall.
Jumble & bake sale, Portal Hall, Burghclere, 11am-2pm. Jumble plus cakes. Funraiser for Newbury Dogs Trust.
Silchester Fun Run, 11am. The course will take you through inspiring trails in ancient natural woodland, and along the roman wall that once enclosed the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum. The fun run has something for everyone, offering a multi terrain 5 mile route for the more adventurous, and a 2.5 mile route for mixed ability runners, families and walkers. The pavilion field will feature the traditional Fun Zone, BBQ, Music and Pop-Up Café offering cakes, refreshments and a bar. Silchester Village Market, will be offering a variety of stalls to browse throughout the morning. Online entries are closed, but you can enter in person on the day if spaces are still available.
Sunday 8
Ramsbury 5 mile run, start Ramsbury Recreational Cground, 10am childrens races, 11am adult race. Entry forms can be collected from the Post Office or Midways Stores in Ramsbury, or email ramsburyrun@hotmail.com or download from www.ramsburyscouts.co.uk
Hungerford Food & Artisan Market, The Croft Field Centre, 10am - 1pm. More than 30 local food and artisan stalls, live music, street food, wild greens and trout smoking demonstrations, seed & plant swap for veg, fruit and herbs. Free entry. Dogs welcome on leads.
East Garston bluebell walk, entrance just off the road between East Garston and Great Shefford and option of long or short walks, 11am-4pm. Bar and barbecue, refreshments and cakes. Children’s teddy bear hunt. Adults £10, children and dogs free. Fundraiser for the church and Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
Burghfield May Fare Funfair, arena displays, craft stalls, a café, food stalls, bar and the ever popular dog show. All money raised goes to charity and we look forward to being able to restart support for local organisations.
Burghclere Miniature Railway, Bughclere Sports & Recration Ground, 11am-3pm. £1 per ride. Refreshments, including barbecue.
Monday 9
Newbury National Trust Supporters’ Group, Deanwood Park Golf Club, Baydon Road, Stockcross, 7.30pm. Talk on Animal Masquerades by Carl Portman, a spider breeder, chess champion, writer and photographer. There is plenty of parking. Non-members and friends are welcome: entrance £3.
Patient Participation Group, Falkland Surgery Open Evening, Monks Lane, Newbury, 7pm. Presentation by Dr Devall ‘Common Health Issues in Young Children’ All patients or staff of Falkland Surgery welcome to attend by Zoom or in person at the Surgery. Stockcross & Surroundings Historical Association, The Sutton Hall Stockcross, 2pm. ‘The History of Shaw House’ by Sarah Somerville. Members free. Non-members welcome cost £5.
