Newbury Print, Sip, Eat repeat workshops back by popular demand

Newbury artists Cipriano and Sarah Martinez are bringing back their Print, Sip, Eat repeat workshops @buickmackane owing to popular demand.

Screen Printing on Paper workshop – April 28 – 6.30pm to 9.30pm
T-shirt Printing – 23 June – 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Screen Printing on Paper workshop – 29 September – 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Learn to screen print your own cards – 19 November – 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Buick Mackane, the co-working space in West Mills opened in 2020 by Melissa Richards, is fast becoming the hottest new evening venue in Newbury. The eclectic programme of gong baths, life drawing and even pasta making to name a few, have been a huge hit with West Berkshire residents.

One of these popular evening events has been Print, Sip, Eat repeat... run in conjunction with husband and wife team Berkshire Printmakers. Advertised as an evening of silkscreen printing with delicious wine and homemade food, it has been and instant success and seen sell out evening with even seen returning attendees.

Sarah Martinez of Berkshire Printmakers says: “We love running these fun, social workshops and we have had people travel from as far as Maidenhead to attend. We have found that with putting the screen print evenings on outside of a normal arts venue, people find it less intimidating especially for anybody who hasn’t done art since school. This is helped by the relaxed atmosphere and delicious food and wine Melissa serves.

After a short break, the successful collaboration of the two local businesses is back, launching four new workshop dates for 2023.

Learn to screen print on paper on April 28 and September 29. This workshop is aimed at absolute beginners and participants are taken step by step through the process by the two experienced silkscreen printers at the end of the event they will go home with a print they are proud to put on their wall.

"June 23 is the first time we will be running our extremely popular T-shirt printing workshop at Buick Mackane. During the evening, attendees will try their hand at designing and printing their own bespoke organic cotton T-shirts ready to show off on their holidays."

On November 19, afternoon tea will be served during a brand-new daytime workshop inspired by Berkshire Printmakers' own venture into hand printing cards last year.

"Sign up to Screen print your own cards, whether it’s Christmas or thank you cards and you will make paper stencils, try colour mixing, and combine your images with Berkshire big bank of patterned screens to make unique card designs that people will treasure," says Sarah.
