Oxford Playhouse welcome Rush back with The King of Reggae – The Man – The Music, following a sell-out run of the critically acclaimed RUSH – A Joyous Jamaican Journey last year.

Taking to the main stage on Friday, August 2 and Saturday 3, the musical show celebrates the man who brought reggae music to the world, Bob Marley, featuring more than 20 of his iconic hits, including One Love, No Woman No Cry and Is This Love.

These much-loved songs will be played live on stage by the celebrated The King of Reggae Band, formed of musicians who have played with the likes of George McCrae, Overproof Sound System, Chaka Khan, Pato Banton and Ruby Turner.

Rush Theatre Company will tell his remarkable story through words and music, following his journey from being a young man in a government yard in Trenchtown to becoming an international Rastafari icon. The production touches upon every aspect of the Jamaican superstar’s musical, spiritual and political life, as well as the global impact of his music.

IKA, who performs the lead vocals throughout the story, embodying Bob Marley himself, is heavily influenced by gospel and has worked with artists like Cece Peniston and Carlene Anderson.
