Ridgeway village to showcase vibrant community of local artists during Oxfordshire Artweeks
THE picturesque Ridgeway village of Aldworth is showcasing the talents of its artists community as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks 2025.
As part of the Artists of Aldworth Oxfordshire Artweeks exhibitions, Isobel Pigott, Anthony Lloyd and Mandy Monkcom will be collectively showing their works at Isobel’s home in Aldworth Field View, Bell Lane RG8 9SB.
They will be open to visitors on May 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 from 11am to 5pm.
Isobel’s paintings are colourful and aim to lift the spirits. She uses different media to express colour, pattern and the rhythm of line and responds instinctively to her subject, whatever it is.
Mandy will be offering figurative and portrait works with an abstract flavour, using colour and texture to convey lively likenesses, and smaller abstract works.
Anthony is a sculptor and printmaker. He is currently exploring memory and memories, creating memorials to portray, remember and celebrate the forgotten lives of craftsmen. You’ll find his work in Isobel’s beautiful gardens and her studio.
Your satnav will take you to St Mary’s Church, but you’ll find Field View opposite the village hall in Bell Lane.
And at the church, famous for its Giants – 13th-century effigies of Norman knights and their ladies – St Mary’s Church Art Group will be exhibiting work between 10am and 5pm from May 10 to 17.
The group is made up of amateur artists who live in Aldworth or the surrounding area and attend art classes or the art and craft group in the village.
As part of the Artists of Aldworth Oxfordshire Artweeks they will be exhibiting their work in a variety of mediums and on various of themes.
Aldworth’s award-winning Bell pub would make an excellent stop for refreshments.
St Mary’s Aldworth will host the exhibition and sale of works by local artists, morning open sketching sessions (paper and charcoal provided) from 10.30am to 12.30pm, daily, plant stall and tea, coffee and cake served all day.
