Newbury’s amateur opera ensemble celebrates 30 glorious years
Kennet Opera celebrating 30 years of concerts.
Kennet Opera is an extremely professional sounding amateur company who have been giving live performances of music and operas since 1994.
Originally formed by a group of friends who wanted to perform the music they loved in and around Newbury this talented group has been bringing opera and concert song to Newbury, West Berkshire and places nearby for 30 years.
The group has evolved from giving one major public performance each year to now giving multiple concerts, recently including Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio and pieces from Purcell and Figaro.
Booking has opened for a special charity spring concert Kennet Opera are performing to raise funds towards the repair and maintenance of St John’s Church Stockcross and everyone is invited to attend there on Saturday, June 14 at 7.30pm.
The concert will include a mix of choruses, solos and ensembles including choruses from Carmen, Macbeth and Dido and Aeneas plus a foretaste, Cavalleria Rusticana, with the Easter Hymn, among lots of others.

There will be a bar available and a raffle with all proceeds going towards St John’s church
Other dates for performances are June 7 in the Great Hall at Shaw House, and June 15 at St Peter’s Church, Brimpton.
