Newbury and Crookham Golf Club raises more than £17,000 for Naomi House and Jacksplace

Club captains present cheque ahead of AGM

NEWBURY and Crookham Golf Club presented a cheque for more than £17,000 to local hospices Naomi House and Jacksplace.

The club has been fundraising for the charity over the last year after club captain Jim Farrell and lady captain Gill Myers paid a visit to Naomi House to see first-hand the work done at the hospice.

Prior to the club’s annual meeting on Saturday, Mr Farrell and Mrs Myers presented a cheque for £17,370.01 to Jill McDonagh, area fundraiser for Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Many events have taken place throughout the captains’ year to raise money, all of which have been well supported, including coffee mornings and club competitions.

The most successful event was the Captains’ Charity Day which raised more than £8,000.

The money raised will go towards the hydrotherapy pool’s changing room facilities.

The hospices provide expert care to more than 280 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from across the South.
